You may recognize the spectacular views from every room at the Loews Regency. That is, if you've previously stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in San Francisco. In April 2015 the Mandarin became the Loews Regency — but only after all the rooms had been redecorated and refreshed, capturing the soft colors of the sea, sky and clouds in a clean, breezy modern design, loaded with comfort.
You simply can't talk about the Loews Regency without gushing about the views. Unusually, it's located on the top 11 floors of one of the tallest buildings in the San Francisco, so that every single room has an amazing view of the city, the bay, or the bridges. Even the bathrooms and walk-in closets in the suites have windows that show off the view.
We love the new design, the views, the attentive service, and the regal rooms found at this brand-new luxury San Francisco gem. In addition, the hotel is close to everywhere we want to go. Take a cable car ride to Nob Hill or Fisherman's Wharf — the lively Farmer's Market is just a block away.
Can we mention the views again? Visitors call them "breathtaking", adding that "you will not find a better view at any hotel in SF!" You are able to see the bay, stretching from the Golden Gate to the Bay Bridge, watch the fog roll in, and hear the San Francisco trademark ding ding of cable cars some forty floors below. Perhaps the most iconic room, in fact, is the Bridge to Bridge Room that takes in the vista from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge, with Marin, Angel Island, Treasure Island, and the East Bay in between. The Transamerica Building is so close you can almost reach out and touch it.
In addition to the 150 or so rooms (every one of which has a view), the Loews Regency has created seven spectacular suites that we think of as the epitome of a first-class urban hotel. The decoration and furnishing simply ooze elegance and refinement. This is where to book if you're looking for more space — for a business trip or for a family vacation. The personalized attention-to-detail service, though, is not confined to the suites — every traveler is treated like a very special guest.
The Loews has also revitalized the hotel restaurant, and now the Brasserie S & P (named for Sansome and Pine streets, the corner where the hotel is located) serves the fresh tastes of the justly-famous California cuisine. There's an extensive health club, free valet parking (an unusual plus for a high-end hotel, but very useful), free WIFI throughout, a spa and relaxation lounge. Soon after opening the Loews Regency Hotel was recognized in Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards for 2015 and was also a Conde Nast Award Winner.
