This is not a cookie-cutter San Francisco hotel. Part of the creative hotel group Joie de Vivre, the Galleria Park has a hip modern design blended with glamorous 1940s retro touches. Take for example, the magnificent Art Deco hand-sculpted fireplace as the centerpiece of the lobby. Galleria calls itself "classic design with a contemporary twist", and we're adopting that accurate description.
Regal touches at the Galleria Park include the restored original 1911 skylights and a secret hideaway landscaped rooftop garden. It's a hotel frequently used by business travelers for the easy access to both the Financial District and Union Square. All the rooms have work desks and free wireless access.
A blend of the best of the styles from numerous eras combined perfectly with modern comfort and design. We've mentioned the restored 1911 skylights; the Galleria style also blends in Art Deco pieces and Art Nouveau design elements with a pleasing contemporary color palette. The guest rooms are done in chartreuse (a deep, sultry green) and soft sage with comfy velvet chairs and pillows. The rooms are spacious and all the bed linens are cleaned with eco-friendly products.
The hotel and the guestrooms were completely revamped a few years ago to add all the modern amentites that you expect like flat-screen TV, ergonomic desk char, plush bathrobes and fully stocked mini bar — all of this in a distinctly sensual setting. The hotel won the American Hotel & Lodging Association's 2014 Innovation Technology Award, and the Galleria is a San Francisco County Certified Green Business.
If you're after more space, consider the Grand Suite — a large living area with your own cozy fireplace and a dining table that can seat six. Along with all the gracious touches is a marble bathroom with modern Groeh fixtures and an oversized soaking tub. The dining room in the Grand Suite can also be used as an impromptu board room.
You're in luck for dining, with the clever and scrumptious Gaspar Brasserie serving up classic French dishes in a distinctly Parisian atmosphere. When you're in the mood for more elegant dining, you're close to Alfred's Steak House; the ultimate supper club, Bix, at 56 Gold Street; and Scala's Bistro at 432 Powell Street.
The Galleria Park is in perfect location for almost everything — close to BART, bus, trolleys and a seven-minute walk to Union Square. It's only a ten-minute walk to Chinatown. With the great San Francisco public transportation system – cable cars, trolleys, buses – you're really never too far away from anywhere you want to go.
