Segway Tours Of San Francisco – Crazy, Kooky, Loads Of Fun

It's hard to imagine what could be more fun than touring the city on one of those crazy, kooky Segways. Loads of travellers agree with us — Segway tours of San Francisco are very, very popular.

Riding a Segway is intuitive, like bike-riding or walking, it only takes a a bit of training to learn how to operate it, and you get 30 to 45 minutes of training to prepare you for your tour. You'll find riding a Segway easy and by the end of your orientation you'll be ready to conquer the streets of San Francisco! Best part — you can cover a lot more distance on a Segway than you can by walking.

Segway Tour of the Waterfront

Segway Tour of the Waterfront

"Had a great time! Our guide Kyle was terrific. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun time."
– 5-Star Review

Glide effortlessly on a Segway past the best of the city and discover why San Francisco is called "The Greenest City in the United States". This tour focuses on the waterfront.

Roll by the historic Aquatic Park Bathhouse Building, the cable car turnaround, Ghirardelli Square, the Maritime National Historic Park and the historic ships sailing from Hyde Street Pier and Fisherman's Wharf. As we said, before your waterfront tour begins, there's a thorough Segway training session. The tour doesn't start until everyone feels comfortable and ready to roll.

A Private Segway Tour

A Private Segway Tour

"We felt silly booking a Segway tour because… you know… it's a Segway Tour. How touristy can you be? Truth be told, it was the most fun we had in our entire week in the Bay and would ABSOLUTELY do it again."
– 5-Star Review

Here's how you can combine the fun of touring the city by Segway with the personal touch of having a private guide, attentive to your group's interests and skills. There are three routes to choose from — the Wharf Tour, along the waterfront; the Golden Gate Park Tour; and, our favorite, the Night Tour. All feature great riding and great views of the city's sights.

Once you're rolling, follow your guide along the streets of the city on a 3-hour tour, with plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and questions along the way. Best part — you have more time and personal attention compared to a group tour, and your guide will be able to adjust the itinerary and pace to your group's interests and skills. A minimum of 2 people per booking is required.

The Hills of San Francisco Segway plus Alcatraz Tour

"Definitely the best day so far of my SF trip. The Segway tour was great fun and by far the best way to see the city. Our guide kept us entertained and informed throughout and I can't recommend this trip enough."
– 5-Star Review

See the best of the city all in one fun day with this Segway tour that includes a visit to Alcatraz. Starting at Fisherman's Wharf you glide along the waterfront to see the Aquatic Park and its cove, where visiting ships dock and spend the night; the Maritime National Historical Park; and views of the Golden Gate Bridge — not to forget the prison island of Alcatraz. Climb Russian Hill and take in more vistas of the bay, the Bay Bridge and Coit Tower.

Stop for photos at hidden stairways and paths, and climb alongside cable cars to the top of Lombard Street. If you're up for it and your guide feels you're ready, cruise downhill along the hairpin turns of this famous street.

Make your way down Telegraph Hill toward North Beach and admire Saints Peter & Paul Church in Washington Square Park. Then head toward Pier 39 and delight in seeing the famous sea lions. There's free time for lunch at one of Pier 39's many eateries.

After you turn in your Segway (saying a sad goodbye) it's a short walk to Pier 33 to board your ferry to Alcatraz Island. See the prison and learn the history of this foreboding penitentiary, using the included 45-minute audio guide. Take your time visiting the historical buildings, soaking up the haunting atmosphere. When you're ready, use your round-trip ticket to hop the ferry back to the city.
